Navy Enlisted Cutlass and Scabbard
This is an authentic reproduction of the cutlass designed by Ames and first carried in 1860. Its 25 1/2" blade and brass basket hand-guard were well suited for the close quarters combat of wooden ships and iron men. Leather scabbard has brass throat and tip, and comes with a dark leather frog. 31 1/2" overall length.

1913 - The body of John Paul Jones is laid in its final resting place in the Chapel of the Naval Academy
1916 - First enlisted flight training class at Pensacola, FL
1953 - Landings tested on board USS Antietam, the first angled deck carrier
1954 - Launching of Nautilus, first nuclear submarine, at Groton, CT
1955 - USS Nautilus (SSN-571), is commissioned
1960 - Bathyscaph Trieste descends to deepest part of the ocean, the Marianas Trench
